FAQs

Can I combine DailyColours® with a vitamin pill?

Yes – they complement each other very well. Although some health professionals can be sceptical about the merits of a vitamin pill, all are in favour of more fruits and vegetables and the protective role of the plant nutrients in them.

How long until I notice a difference using DailyColors®?

Subjects in the clinical trials recorded very positive results in 60 days. These were on internationally recognised biological markers of physical and cognitive health as measured by clinicians.

Some people, therefore, will notice a difference in a few short weeks.  However, the compounds in DailyColours® support multiple processes involved in cellular health and these are measured in months and years, so you may not immediately notice much different.

Consistency in taking a supplement – and in diet and exercise -  is the key. So the longer you take DailyColours®, the more evident the results will be. Your assurances of the immediate effectiveness of DailyColours® is the clinical trials we have conducted.

Is DailyColours® suitable for vegans or vegetarians.

Yes, it is comprised of natural plant extracts

When should I take DailyColours®?

In the morning with breakfast is ideal – then it becomes part of a ‘food matrix’. But the most important thing is to create a routine. The recommended dose is two capsules. Their timing can be split.

Can I take more than 2 a day?

Yes - DailyColours® is an all-natural supplement – just concentrated extracts from 16 fruits vegetables and herbs. In our clinical trials a sub-group took up to 4 capsules a day – for even faster benefits.  Just as experts recommend increasing fruits, vegetables and herbs is your diet.

Regularity is key – just as long term adherence to the Mediterranean Diet is the secret of its proven longevity benefits.

Is DailyColours® also good for children?

Yes – especially when it isn’t easy to get them to eat enough plant foods!

We would recommend from age 12 years at 1 capsule a day. Rising to 2 capsules from 16 onwards. But we do recommend checking with your physician first.

Is DailyColours Gluten Free?

Yes

Can I manage my order – especially if I ‘subscribe and save’?

Yes, you have full control. You can delay an order if you should become ‘over-stocked”. Or cancel at any time.

Do I still need to eat fruit and veggies?

Yes, of course. DailyColours® is a supplement to a sensible, healthy diet.  But an important supplement, because we estimate it can double the average person’s intake of key fruit and vegetable derived polyphenols. Polyphenols have been shown to slow ageing – and hence delay the health problems otherwise associated with ageing.

Do you ship internationally?

Not immediately. But check our order page occasionally to see if we deliver to your area.

Can I take DailyColours if I take statins?

We suggest you consult with your physician or pharmacist.

DailyColours® contains about 4 mg of naringenin (a polyphenol) in grapefruit extract – per 2 capsules. WE include it because research shows naringenin has antioxidant, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective effects.

However, if you take stains or calcium channel blockers, grapefruit juice is generally not recommended because possible interactions with enzymes increase the potency of the drug.

For comparison, a typical 200ml glass of grapefruit juice may contain an average of 14mg of naringenin – as in all natural juices, nutrient levels can vary.

How long should I take DailyColours for?

DailyColours supplies plant nutrients that few of us get enough of – unless we are eating considerably more than 5 portions of fruits and vegetables a day.  It’s effectively the essence of the Mediterranean diet - and long-term adherence to that way of eating is linked strongly to extended health span.

More frequent Q&As

What is the Mediterranean Diet? And why is it so highly rated for ‘healthy longevity’?

The Mediterranean Diet is not a weight loss diet, but a lifestyle way of eating characterised by foods typically eaten around the Mediterranean area. It’s acknowledged by researchers, dietitians, and medical professionals as the premier way to eat for sustained health, reduced risk of chronic disease and longevity.

It features minimally processed ingredients, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes like chickpeas, lentils, and beans, limited red meat, oily fish (like sardines or salmon), poultry, eggs and moderate amounts of dairy products like Greek yogurt and feta cheese.

Extensive research shows the Mediterranean Diet supports better brain function, extends physical strength, may reduce depression, helps reduce the risk of certain cancers (especially colorectal cancer), lowers heart disease risk, supports eye health,  and helps protect against dementia.

DailyColours® has been formulated to reproduce the essence of the Mediterranean Diet. You’ll find Mediterranean Diet recipes in DailyColours® blog and newsletters.

What is a polyphenol – and what do they do?

Polyphenols are tiny compounds and significantly concentrated in the colours of plant foods, such as fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, tea, dark chocolate, and wine.

WebMD – the site that summarises health research for health professionals and the public – states that polyphenols are “life span essentials” and:

“ help lower blood pressure … help reduce chronic inflammation …help control your blood sugar levels.. may even block tumour growth and kill active cancer cells … can activate your immune system to fight off infection and disease. …. promote good bacteria growth in your gut and limit harmful bacteria”.

So, polyphenols are important plant compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help you keep healthy.

They can neutralize harmful free radicals that can damage your cells – and this can reduce your risk of health threats, (like cardiovascular disease), that can surface in later years.

Polyphenols can reduce inflammation, which is thought to be the root cause of many chronic diseases – including Alzheaimer’s.

As the microbes in your microbiome – (gut) - ferment polyphenols, they produce numerous new, smaller compounds, which positively influence your health and support your immune system.

There are many different types of polyphenols, including flavonoids, flavones, anthocyanins, phenolic acids, and stilbenes. Despite their small size – about 1/1000’th by weight of a given fruit or vegetable – they pack a very big health punch.

Why does DailyColors® combine so many types of polyphenol?

Because each one - and each colour group of polyphenols- has a slightly different health benefit. So, combining them carefully creates not just a symphony of colour, but a symphony of health benefits. It’s because of the effectiveness of this unique combination that DailyColours® has been awarded so may international patents.

How does DailyColors® boost my intake of polyphenols?

The average intake of polyphenols in the UK is estimated to be about 800mg a day. Children’s intake is unfortunately lower. But most of these polyphenols for adults come from coffee and tea.  Only a minority come from fruits, vegetables and herbs. At 750mg a day DailyColours® should probably double the average person’s intake of non-beverage polyphenols.

Is a phytonutrient the same as a polyphenol?

Polyphenols and phytonutrients and are related but not the same. Polyphenols are a sub-group of phyto-nutrients, also called phytochemicals. ‘Phyto’ just means plant.

What is an ‘extract’ of a fruit or vegetable?

Plants have very valuable compounds - like polyphenols - that can be isolated and extracted.

First the plant is harvested at a time when its beneficial properties are at their peak. Then they are freeze concentrated to remove water and extraneous materials and ensure potency.

Finally, the concentrated material is subject to strict quality control to ensure purity. The result is a highly concentrated extract that can be put into a supplement capsule.

How can DailyColours® support your immune system?

DailyColours® contains 161 phytochemicals (plant nutrients). These support the immune system by providing antioxidants that help protect cells and DNA from damage.  They help balance immune function, without leading to chronic inflammation or over-reaction. Phytochemicals also act as anti-microbial agents, reducing the risk that viruses and bacteria can grow in the body.

How can DailyColours® support brain health?

DailyColours® contains many polyphenols, which have four important ways to protect and enhance cognitive function as we age.

Polyphenols are known to have strong antioxidant effects, which help combat oxidative stress (free radical action) in the brain. By neutralizing free radicals, polyphenols protect brain cells from damage and hence may reduce the risk of neurodegenerative diseases.

In addition, chronic inflammation is a significant factor in many neurological conditions. Polyphenols help modulate inflammatory pathways in the brain. This reduction in inflammation can enhance overall brain health and cognitive performance - as was seen in the clinical trials that were conducted on DailyColours®.

Some studies suggest that polyphenols may even help reduce the accumulation of beta -amyloid plaques, which are associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Polyphenols have been shown to increase a protein called BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor). This is vital for growing new neurons (brain cells), maintaining the health of existing ones and for synaptic plasticity – allowing the brain to adapt and heal. BDNF also facilitates communication between brain cells, and hence improves learning, and memory.

Finally, polyphenols can enhance blood flow to the brain. This, in turn, ensures that the brain receives adequate oxygen and the nutrients necessary for optimal brain health and cognition as you grow older.

What is an epigenetic test?

While your genetic profile is fixed at conception, not all your genes are active at any one time. A gene can be switched on or off (called gene expression). So, its effect can be dialled up or down, by environmental factors, activity levels, your immediate environment, and especially by your nutritional intake.  Epigenetics is the study of how these factors influence the way your genes work, by changing chemicals attached to them. Some epigenetic tests have been developed that can measure your biological age as opposed to chronological age - and the biological age of various organs – including memory age.Over 80% of the participants in the DailyColours® epigenetic tests reduced their memory age in just 60 days – and the average reduction was 3.8 years. In just two months!

How can DailyColours® support DNA repair?

DailyColours® contains over 161 plant nutrients, including polyphenols and flavonoids. These have been shown to support DNA repair through various mechanisms. Polyphenols can not only support DNA repair enzymes, they also have anti-inflammatory properties, which can further aid in DNA repair.

What is an enzyme?

Enzymes are proteins that that speed up a chemical reaction without being changed by the reaction. Ie they are catalysts.

Some enzymes are known speed up disease formation or ageing. You want these to be inhibited.  DailyColours® has been shown to inhibit multiple enzymes that would otherwise lead to negative outcomes, including ageing.

If I break open a capsule the colour of the extracts is brown. Why?

Because if you mix red, purple, yellow, green and orange - the extracts’ original colours - – you get brown.  On the other hand, if you mix it with water – you get a delightful purple colour.
